When should you rekey or change your locks?
- You've just bought or moved into a home
- Keys have been lost or stolen
- A housemate, tenant or ex-partner has moved out
- Tradespeople, cleaners or Airbnb guests have had keys
- Your locks are old, worn or hard to turn
Rekeying vs replacing: what's the difference?
Rekeying changes the pins inside your existing lock so it works with a new key and the old ones no longer fit. It's usually the cheaper option when the lock itself is in good condition.
Replacing means fitting a brand new lock. It's the better choice when a lock is worn, damaged, low-security or you'd like an upgrade such as a better deadlock or a smart lock.
We'll look at your locks and give you an honest recommendation. Read more in our guide: Rekey or replace your locks?
